The Talks

This year the talks will be by Gary Millar & Paul Grimmond. The focus is Men and Work.

Transport

Carpool or drive yourself

• Leave the coast mid Friday afternoon
• Return about dinnertime Saturday

Cost

$125.00 which includes; registraton fees, accommodation (at Maria Tal) and all meals thru up to Sat afternoon tea.

What to bring

• Linen/ blankets or a sleeping bag.
• Pillow, towel, toiletries. Bible.
• Casual clothes for the talks and clothes suitable for a bush walk should we get the chance!
• Food, drinks and coffee are provided from Friday night to Saturday afternoon tea.

This year the speaker is Rev Richard Gibson.

The kids always have a great time (especially if they wear sunscreen, mossie repellent, wet shoes for wading, and have a spray jacket with them). There will also be a program for primary school aged girls and boys which will be split into two age groups. They will be swimming, fishing, group search activities, poking dead sharks with a stick…and lots of other things their mums would tell them not to do.

If you have not got your form into Scott Laidlaw (0425 263 515) or Michael Dickens (0437 686 444), please phone them and tell them when and how you are planning to do this.

On Friday, remember there is no dinner, only a light supper. (so eat before you come, or call in at Macca’s on the way). Arrival time is optional, on Friday as the first talks begin on Saturday morning. I would suggest around 6pm, to give you time to setup your tent in the sun. (but eat first!)

For those arriving on Saturday morning, please arrive at 8.30am for a 9.00am start.

Dave Steel, Awarded Amatuer Beer Brewer and Pastor of Crossroads Church Canberra will speak to us about relationship with God, the finer points of beer brewing and enjoying beer as part of God’s good creation. A great opportunity to invite a mate!

A practical step that many of the men in our church have taken is to install internet accountability software (x3watch). All the staff and men’s ministry leaders at The Lakes have installed the software and found it helpful.
