A small home group is an ideal context to do this, as well as to get to know each other more personally.

The Lakes has a variety of home groups including men’s groups, youth groups women’s groups daytime groups, night time groups, mixed groups, recovery groups, locality groups, workers groups…

We are sure to be able to make suggestions that suit your routine, but we hope you would make a bible study group a high priority for your week.

Just contact the church office or leave a note on the welcome slip on Sunday if you would like us to help you find a home group.

• we were inspired and encouraged by the courage and faith of Elisha, Hezekiah and Josiah as they brought the nation back to God.
• we were devastated by the terrible judgment that came on both Israel and Judah.

Good News Week (GNW) is a 5 day kids holiday program Monday 4th -Friday 8th January, run by the Lakes church. GNW caters for kids of all ages.

MINIMITES  (Yr K-2) : ‘Where are we?’ – Come and join us in the library as books come to life! We will be meeting lots of exciting characters who will tell us all about Jesus and the things he did as we find our way through the book of luke.

KEENITES (Yr 3-6): ‘Get ready for a blast…’ – Join Dr. ka Boom and the Professor in the laboratory as we bring the perfect person to life…Jesus! Watch out for the explosions!

TEENS (Yr 7-12): ‘And so where’s Jesus?’ – What’s your real identity and how do you find it? Join us this week for the search.

Kids are welcome to come for one day or the whole week. The program runs from 9-11:30 each day and the cost is $4/child/day (or max $10/family/day). All the kid’s programs are coordinated by qualified children’s workers with a support team of trained volunteers. There is a mix of games, craft, puppets, teaching from the Bible and morning tea.

You can pre-register your child by downloading the form, completing it and handing in the collection bags on Sunday. Otherwise, you can register on the day.

During the week we also have an Adults Tent ‘The Watering Hole’, for parents, grandparents and friends to be spoilt while their children are participating in their program (creche and preschool tent also available for parents remaining on site). Tea and coffee and plenty of yummies will be served for a small donation. We will also hear from a number of different speakers on issues that relate to us, our family and community.

TUESDAY: ‘Crossing the Nullarbor’ – Surviving rocky relationships
WEDNESDAY: ‘Under the Southern Cross’ – Bush Tucker and the Great outdoors
THURSDAY: ‘I love To Have A Beer With Duncan’ – Reflections on mateship and the Australian spirit
FRIDAY: ‘The Great Aussie BBQ’ – Celebrate our great nation and enjoy a BBQ feast.

Good News Week concludes with church on Sunday 10th at Berkeley Vale High School and a Family Fun Day afterwards. It should be a lot of fun and we hope you can join us!

The Lakes Senior Fellowship operates using the following principles in ensuring people in the group are properly cared for.

Engaging- To engage with the Community
Members of our group are currently engaged in establishing a church in Glengara Retirement Village, with meetings held each month. And a number of our members have taken the opportunity to join others in the church to bring the knowledge of Jesus to children in our local schools through SRE. Group members keenly support our link missionaries both financially and with prayer.

Starting- To help people to start to live with Jesus as King and Saviour.
Our members are keen to see people hand their lives over to Jesus, and consequently members are continually praying for friends and family.

Connecting- To Cultivate Community it is all about creating God’s new community. This is the focus of our meeting together as we learn to live as a new community being a support for each other in prayer and practical help. We are a group that offers warmth, acceptance, friendship, and joy and a place to meaningfully and deeply encourage one another.Each term we hold a social occasion involving members in picnics, ferry excursions, and hospitality dinners and local places of attraction.

Growing- To Grow (Maturity)
The group provides a place for deepening our love for God and our trust in Him. Our group is a place where God is loved and honoured. Where we hear from Him in his Word and speak to Him in prayer. Our study of the Word aims to be God Honouring, Christ Centred, Spirit anointed and challenging to how we live. Each week we are privileged to have good bible communicators who help us grow and mature as we are challenged with God’s word.

Serving- Our Group strives to be a place and focus where we see love in action.
As Gods workmanship we are created and called to serve others. Individuals of the group are able to use their giftedness and ability to serve each other and the church.
