Thanks for your interest. My understanding is that the majority of schools have continued with a Chaplain over a welfare worker but it is the Principal's decision. The Principal at The Entrance has openly expressed how impressed he has been with the previous chaplain and has decided again to appoint a chaplain in consultation with GenR8. Should you require more information I can be contacted from this website or please contact the school.

I would like to know what consultation occurred prior to this decision.
Was a secular youth worker given the opportunity to apply for the position?
Many schools have opted out of the Chaplaincy program in favour of a Youth Worker with no religious affiliation which is widely seen as more appropriate for a non-religious school.

In for the long haul or time to hand over?

Let’s face it, God knows serving can be hard work! It tests our patience with people, it’s frustrating when it clashes with things we want to do, and there are so many demands in our life that we are stretched in too many directions. God uses even these times for His Glory by changing us to be more like Christ!
There is a time for everything under the sun! (Ecc 3). Even a time to be persistent when the going is difficult and a time to cut our losses and try something different in a new phase of life.
Please consider being in your chosen ministry for the long haul. It takes time to learn the skills, tasks, and to get to know the people with whom you are serving. Often more than a year! Changing too soon can cause prolonged vacancies with other team members being stretched beyond their initial commitment to pick up the slack. There may be ways around your current concern that avoids “pulling out” as your only option.
If it is time for you to change, please give some consideration to encouraging and training a replacement for yourself, to make your transition smoother. Training is a good thing to undertake, even if you are not considering moving on to another ministry.
Whatever you do, it pleases our Lord to do it joyfully. You can give me a call in the office if you would like to talk this over. Stewart

Hi Dave, thanks for this. Your sermon was awesome on Sunday. I was particularly interested in it as I teach a creation unit in Year 9 and we compare the Genesis story of creation ( which shows God as the perfect creator ) with Frankenstein and Edward Scissorhands in terms of how they were created by self seeking, arrogant men who were playing God - and consequently it all went wrong!!!
Your sermon and notes have given me some more good ideas on how to set out for the kids what the Genesis story tells us about God.
Thanks heaps!!!!
