You may or may not have noticed the latest Outreach Poster. It's targeting the despair involved for those caught up in Internet Pornography. Why is Outreach Media focusing on Internet Pornography in March?

Because Internet pornography is dramatically changing community behaviour and standards. What's different about Internet pornography is the triple 'A' threat. More and more people are slipping into watching pornography and struggling because online pornography lacks accountability, it's anonymous and it's so accessible.

The sex industry is now a $100 + billion industry. But what about internet pornography? Well, there are all sorts of statistics on its scope and scale. But who really knows? Certainly its income is in the billions. However, the telling statistic comes from Google. Currently one quarter of all Google searches are now for pornography. These days Google doesn't readily reveal total search figures. But last year a research group called comScore estimated that Google handled 235 million searches a day in July.

The latest statistics on gender usage may surprise. Internet Pornography is not an exclusively male thing. In fact, usage splits 70% male and 30% female.

And the effects of Internet pornography are being felt in churches. (from Outreach Media)

NEWS FROM CHILE

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your prayers for Chile and its people over these last days. You will be aware that CMS has a number of missionaries working in Chile. They are all safe and well, but along with all those in the quake zone are coping with the trauma of the event and the ongoing after-shocks. They are all now back in their own homes, though they may not all have full communication and other services available to them. As you pray for Chile please remember these missionaries, their Christians brothers and sisters, Bishop Tito Zavala and the Chilean church.

The CMS missionaries currently in Chile are:
Santiago
Michael and Jo Charles, Samuel, Caleb, Emma and Lola,
Stephen and Rebecca Shead, Benjamin, Lachlan, Tristan and Liliana,
Frances Cook
Lesley Doy

Antofagasta
Bruce and Bron Hallyburton, Elizabeth, Alexandra and Catherine

Vina del Mar (near Santiago)
Pato and Dagma Oyarzun, Rocio, Estela and Trinidad (interNATIONAL Ministry Partners)

On Home Assignment in Australia
Tim and Sally Swan, Lachlan, Annabelle, Edward, Adelaide (normally based in Santiago)
Graeme and Jane Peters, Benjamin, Samuel, Martin (on final home assignment, but previously based in Concepción, which is near the epicentre of the earthquake)

We have received some email prayer letters from the missionaries in Chile, and from some members of Graeme & Jane Peters congregation and we have attached them for your information and prayer.

For further updates concerning the CMS missionaries and the earthquake, please see the CMS website at: www.cms.org.au.

Yours in Christ,

Christine would like you to pray;
- Praise God that we are still able to go into the schools and teach children about God and Jesus.
- Pray that God will empower each of us to speak His truth.
- Share ideas for Easter assembly.
- Pray that we can form closer links with the schools.
- Pray for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one.
- Pray that God will give us all enthusiasm and a heart for the children we are teaching.
- Feedback from the Board committee meeting and "Connect" training day.

Thought I would throw in a short update. Its all comming together well, and once again the Sharks will be there.

On Friday, remember there is no dinner, only a light supper. (so eat before you come, or call in at Macca's on the way). Arrival time is optional, on Friday as the first talks begin on Saturday morning. I would suggest around 6pm, to give you time to setup your tent in the sun. (but eat first!)

We really do need to firm up numbers for catering purposes so if you are planning on going please let us know. Even an email to me at michael.dickens@serversaustralia.com.au would be great.

See you all there
