Church Weekend Away- 18th & 19th Sept

The 10.30am church weekend away has been relocated from the WEC centre to 4 Cottesloe Rd, Jilliby (off Dickson Rd). Close enough to attend during the day and you have the option of staying there in your tent overnight.

Michael Plaege will be bring us the bible talks in the mornings from 9.00am Saturday 18th, about “God’s Comfort in a Broken World”. There will be a children’s program and it will be loads of fun. We’ve already had a lot of interest in this weekend especially from those who were unable to change to the 8.30am weekend away on the 10-12th of Sept at the WEC centre, Morisset.

The cost has been considerably reduced because of the changed location.

What can I bring?

You could bring a slice/cake to share and some fruit. If you are tenting on the lawn overnight bring your own breakfast, tent, sleeping gear etc

Certificate in Theology through The Lakes

Each term The Lakes church conducts a series of seminars in a different unit of the Moore College Certificate in Theology Course (ThC). The course is broken into three sections: the Preliminary Certificate (PTC); the Intermediate Certificate (ITC): and the last section which completes the ThC. Each section consists of 6 units. We do one unit a term.

Our purpose is to equip God’s servants so that they know the Bible well. Paul encourages Christians to prepare for works of service by being built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God … no longer infants, … blown here and there by every wind of teaching (Ephesians 4:12 – 14)

It is suitable for any Christian, especially if they teach children, youth or adults, who is prepared to work just that little harder at studying the Word of God.

More than 30 people have attempted one or more units through the Lakes in the last three years and 4 have already completed the PTC with another 4 getting close.

Seminars are usually held on Monday nights during term time and consist of a small group varying from 4 to ten people, depending on the subject, led by Ian Mears. Ian was a lecturer at Moore College for more than 20 years.

Friend of Kings and their greatest critic; a faithful, committed, disciple of the Lord; chosen to be the Lord’s mouth in an age long gone. Yet seven hundred years after his death Isaiah’s prophesies were found to be the key to understanding Christ’s role and mission. Now, 2,700 years later his voice still speaks to disciples of the Lord.

This term we will hear some of that message in our weekly sermons and our small groups.
