Don’t forget to ask your friends to come along to one of the many events still to come:

• Day 4 (Thurs) in the adults tent – Tony and Julie Heywood will be leading our session on how we can be more
  accepting of each other in both marriage and other relationships.  There will be a gospel talk about God’s unconditional love, how he accepts uswarts and all.
• Thurs night men’s event arrive sometime after 5.30pm on the school oval
• Fri night jazz night – picnic from 6.30pm on the main oval
• Sun morning family fun day – starts with church at 9am
• There is a wet weather plan for each event so don’t let rain or bad weather put you off coming along!

The registration was extremely smooth thanks to Tracey House and her team.  Thanks also to all our church members who pre-registered their kids.  It makes a huge difference to Day 1!

• The creche and preschool had 30 children.
• The infants aged schoolkids had 57 children.
• The primary aged schoolkids had around 41 children.
• The teens (high school) also had a huge 68 kids.
• As far as I can work out that is a record day one attendance!

• The adults tent showed hospitality to around 80 adults – we entered the kingdom of “Ever After” with the hosts Princess Natalie the Fair and Prince David the Lionheart.  We heard a question and answer session from paediatrician Susie Piper about childhood related illnesses.  Darren Box gave a great talk about our love of fantasy stories and the big characters/big themes.  Then he compared and contrasted the big characters/big themes of the Bible – and yet the Bible is dealing with real people, real issues, real history.  It was fantastic!

Day 2 – Tuesday should be another great day!  In the adults’ tent the topic is: Reality Bites… When the big bad wolf eats Grandma.  Dr David Lienert with be speaking about dealing with loss in our life. David is a Christian psychiatrist practising on the Central Coast. He will speak about grief associated with death of a loved one and with other kinds of losses that we face.  Our own Ann Wood will share something of her experience of losing her husband five years ago and how God has led her through that time…  Come and join us!

We began by seeing that God is the creator of the world. He made everything and He rules as King over that world. God created a beautiful place for His people to live. They were happy and lived under His rule.

Our memory verse for this week is Genesis 2:15.

The completed forms can be folded and placed in the collection bags at your Sunday church meeting or sent to the church office.

Cooperating with the authorities may mean that if we are aware of someone who has been diagnosed with the virus we would need to close down children’s activities for 7 days and alert parents to look for symptoms amongst their children. Please inform Stewart Kingsland if you or a member of your immediate family have been diagnosed with Swine Flu so that we can make appropriate recommendations to our ministries.

If a child and/or parent has travelled to USA, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Panama-( and possible adding the UK or even Melbourne), they should stay away from sunday school, kids biz,  and SALT for the same period they are advised to stay away from school- generally 7 days.

Mitigation measures now are:
-Request parents not to send children with respiratory tract infections or flu like illnesses to Sunday School, Kid Biz etc.
-Request people with these infections not to attend church.
-Request people to wash their hands regularly.
-Request people to follow coughing etiquette.

As the virus spreads, and it is predicted that 10-30 % of us will have it this winter.

Why not freeze some soup or meals to help those who may be ill this Winter?

The Lakes church has agreed to be part of an initiative to distribute his DVD to participating public schools in our area, free, as a means of making the Lord Jesus known more widely in a fun way for children.

Why not come to the Lakes Church to learn more about Jesus?

In Kid’s Church the children will be taught by experienced Kid’s Church teachers. They will learn about God and his son Jesus from the Bible and generally complete a craft or work sheet. They also get to play some games and enjoy being with one another. Kid’s Church is meant to be time of fun, getting to know other kids and learning about God.

Kid’s Church is the same for both 8:30 and 10:30 meetings.

The school age children are divided into 3 age groups:

FROGS (Kindergarten and Year 1)

FISH (Years 2, 3 & 4)

SHARKS (Years 5 & 6)
