WISE: Equip 19th May

Equip Women, is on Saturday the 19th of May, in Darling Harbour but we now have 2 options of how to be involved.

You could go along and enjoy the day and share fellowship with the 4000 women who attend at Darling Harbour Convention Centre (click here to register and you could contact Ruth if you would like to travel with someone from The Lakes)

or you could watch the live video stream of the Conference at The Entrance Baptist Church.

The live streaming will allow you to see all aspects of the conference, from talks and interviews, to songs, prayer and the most popular elective topic.The aim is that women from the coast will be able to enjoy fellowship with each other and quality bible teaching at a fraction of the conference cost. The cost of the day is only $10.00 which covers the cost of live streaming, and lunch. To keep costs low we would like to ask ladies to bring a plate of something to share for morning tea if they are happy to. Registrations will open at 8:30 and the first talk will start at 9am. The day will finish at the end of the elective at 3:30pm.

Make your own gifts using chocolate. We have lots of moulds, lollies, sprinkles, ideas and chocolate.

Put all this together in a decorative box and your gift is complete!

If you are new to the Lakes or been coming for a while, this would be a great opportunity to get to know other women from our church. This will be a time to relax, have a cuppa and enjoy each others company.

Growth Groups 2012

Growth Groups are essential to our church. We take Jesus seriously as we study his word and learn to repent of ways that displease him and to be encouraged in ways to follow him.

A small growth group of 5-12 people is an ideal context to do this, as well as to get to know each other more personally.

The Lakes has a variety of Growth Groups including men’s groups, youth groups women’s groups daytime groups, night time groups, mixed groups, locality groups, workers groups…

We are sure to be able to make suggestions that suit your routine, but we hope you would make a Growth Group a high priority for your week.

Just contact the church office or leave a note on the welcome slip on Sunday if you would like us to help you find a Growth Group that is right for you.

Ian Mears

Ian oversees the serving area of our church in a part-time capacity.
Ian has decades of experience both in pastoral ministry and in training pastors. In fact, when Dave Sheath was fresh out of Theological College, Ian was Dave’s mentor.
Ian is married to Margaret and they have three grown children: Kylie, Peter and David. All of their children are married with children, and they are involved in full-time ministry in Canberra, Brisbane, and Sydney.
