Growth Groups 2012

Growth Groups are essential to our church. We take Jesus seriously as we study his word and learn to repent of ways that displease him and to be encouraged in ways to follow him.

A small growth group of 5-12 people is an ideal context to do this, as well as to get to know each other more personally.

The Lakes has a variety of Growth Groups including men’s groups, youth groups women’s groups daytime groups, night time groups, mixed groups, locality groups, workers groups…

We are sure to be able to make suggestions that suit your routine, but we hope you would make a Growth Group a high priority for your week.

Just contact the church office or leave a note on the welcome slip on Sunday if you would like us to help you find a Growth Group that is right for you.

What’s it about?

Grab part of a weekend with the men from The Lakes, heading up to Katoomba for Friday evening to Saturday…..
Taking some time-out, to stop, listen and think!
A must do weekend for every Man.

The Talks

This year the talks will be by Gary Millar & Paul Grimmond. The focus is Men and Work.

Cost

$125.00 which includes; registraton fees, accommodation (at Maria Tal) and all meals thru up to Sat afternoon tea.

What to bring

Linen/ blankets or a sleeping bag.
Pillow, towel, toiletries. Bible.
Casual clothes for the talks and clothes suitable for a bush walk should we get the chance!
Food, drinks and coffee are provided from Friday night to Saturday afternoon tea.

Family Fun Day- 15th Jan

Family Fun Day (9am Sunday 15th Jan). Join us for church in the Berkeley Vale High COLA. Come and hear what the kids’ got up to during the week! Followed by fun activities on the oval or relaxing in the Adults Tent over a coffee. Activities include sausage sizzle, sumo wrestling, jumping castle for kids, water fights, face painting and cool badge making!

Come along and join in the fun!

Adults can join in the activities or sit under the shade of the tent and enjoy music and conversation

Good News Week Jan 9-13

Good News Week (GNW) is a 5 day family holiday program run by the Lakes Evangelical church, January 9th – 13th at Berkeley Vale High School, Berkeley Rd, Berkeley Vale.

For the Kids…

GNW caters for kids of all ages. Kids are welcome to come for one day or the whole week. The program runs from 9-11:30 am each day and the cost is $4/child/day (or max $10/family/day). All the kid’s programs are coordinated by qualified children’s workers with a support team of trained volunteers. There is a mix of games, craft, puppets, teaching from the Bible and morning tea.

You can pre-register your child by downloading the form, completing it and handing in the collection bags on Sunday or posting to our church office. Otherwise, you can register on the day.

For the Adults…

‘Santorini Summer’ – Each morning (Mon-Fri) the Adults Tent offers is a welcoming cafe for parents, grandparents and friends to be spoilt with coffee and Greek treats as they hear interesting talks and interviews all in the theme of ‘Santorini Summer’! A creche and preschool tent is offered to those attending ‘Santorini Summer’, led by trained children’s workers.

Big Fat Greek Blokes Night. Thursday 12th Jan, 6.00-9.00pm. Berkeley Vale High Oval.

For Everyone…

Soul on the Grass. Friday 13th Jan from 6:30pm till 9pm. BYO Picnic dinner. Berkeley Vale High Oval.

Soul on the Grass is a Friday evening, family friendly, Summer picnic wind-down to the mellow sounds of Phil Davidson. A time to catch up with those you have met during Good News Week, to meet new friends, and invite others along.

Friday 13th January from 6:30pm till 9pm

Free outdoor music. Drinks, ice-cream and coffee will be available for purchase.

WISE: Counting Down to Christmas- 20th Oct

The next WISE night will be on Thurs October 20, where we will be continue to make our “Jesus Tree”. This will be a night to complete the ornaments you started in September, or to come along and commence making your “Jesus Tree”. This is a type of advent calendar with a symbol, description and Bible verse relating to who Jesus is. A great way to count down to Christmas with your children, grandchildren, friends and family, or give as a gift.

This WISE event will be held at The Entrance Baptist Church Hall, 8 Yakalla St, Bateau Bay from 7.30pm.

Cost: $20 per kit (extra $10 if you would like each decoration in an organza bag)

Please RSVP by 18th Oct on Sundays or the church office. It would be great if you could please pay a $5 deposit to secure a kit when you register.
