The Tuggerah Lakes Christian Education Board Inc. is seeking a part-time (2-3 days/week) Special Religious Education teacher for Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College, The Entrance Campus to commence as soon as possible. The position requires a teacher to teach SRE lessons to Year 11 and seminars for Year 12. We are looking for a committed Christian person with a passion for sharing the good news of Jesus with senior high school students.

The applicant needs to be a committed Christian, attend church regularly and be prepared to commit to the Board’s objectives and Statement of Faith (a necessary occupational requirement). The successful applicant must have completed or be in the process of completing a Diploma in Theology or equivalent qualification. Preference will be given to applicants with tertiary teaching qualifications, or qualifications deemed equivalent. Experience in ministry to secondary school aged youth is desirable.

Any appointment is subject to a Working with Children Check.

Our next Simply Christianity course begins on Tuesday 7th Feb, 2012, 6:30-9:00pm at 4 Pescud Close Tumbi Umbi, for 5 weeks.

Dinner and child minding included!

This is a terrific opportunity to check out Christianity for yourself in a relaxed and non-threatening environment. We’ll be reading through Luke’s Gospel together to discover who Jesus is, why he came and what relevance he is to our lives today. You can ask as many questions as you like or remain silent, it’s up to you.

Good News Week Jan 9-13

Good News Week (GNW) is a 5 day family holiday program run by the Lakes Evangelical church, January 9th – 13th at Berkeley Vale High School, Berkeley Rd, Berkeley Vale.

For the Kids…

GNW caters for kids of all ages. Kids are welcome to come for one day or the whole week. The program runs from 9-11:30 am each day and the cost is $4/child/day (or max $10/family/day). All the kid’s programs are coordinated by qualified children’s workers with a support team of trained volunteers. There is a mix of games, craft, puppets, teaching from the Bible and morning tea.

You can pre-register your child by downloading the form, completing it and handing in the collection bags on Sunday or posting to our church office. Otherwise, you can register on the day.

For the Adults…

‘Santorini Summer’ – Each morning (Mon-Fri) the Adults Tent offers is a welcoming cafe for parents, grandparents and friends to be spoilt with coffee and Greek treats as they hear interesting talks and interviews all in the theme of ‘Santorini Summer’! A creche and preschool tent is offered to those attending ‘Santorini Summer’, led by trained children’s workers.

Big Fat Greek Blokes Night. Thursday 12th Jan, 6.00-9.00pm. Berkeley Vale High Oval.

For Everyone…

Soul on the Grass. Friday 13th Jan from 6:30pm till 9pm. BYO Picnic dinner. Berkeley Vale High Oval.

Family Fun Day (9am Sunday 15th Jan). Join us for church in the Berkeley Vale High COLA. Come and hear what the kids got up to during the week! Followed by fun activities on the oval or relaxing in the Adults Tent over a coffee. Activities include suasage sizzle, sumo wrestling, jumping castle for kids, water fights, face painting and cool badge making!

Uni Students on Mission @ The Lakes this week

Every year we host a group of Christian univeristy students who come up from Sydney to give their time in helping us reach out to our area of the Central Coast. There will be about 20 students with us who are part of the Campus Bible Study and Fellowship of Overseas Christian Students (FOCUS) ministries at the University of New South Wales. There are similar missions going on in churches across Australia as part of the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (AFES) and their National Training Event (NTE).

The students arrive this Wednesday 7th December and will be with us until the Sunday so you might see them around as they go about their work. Some of our members are going to host some of the students for accommodation and meals. They’ll be in our loca primary and high schools, doorknocking our local homes and handing out GNW and Christmas flyers at the train station. You’ll also see them at Carols this Saturday and on the Sunday as they will be helping us with Kidz church before they leave us to go back to Sydney.

Please pray for their time with us. May we show our Love to them with not only hospitality but with thankfulness to our Lord that they have come to help us as we reach out to our community this Christmas!

At 1pm on Sunday 22 January 2012, we will be conducting baptisms down at Toowoon Bay.

Baptism is a great way for new Christians to publicly repent and declare their trust in Jesus as their Saviour, Lord and God, promising to follow God for the rest of their lives.

It is also a great time for our church family to gather and celebrate this special occasion!
