Federal Election 2010

Commentators are predicting Julia Gillard will call an election any day now. How will you vote? Thinking Christianly on the complex issues surrounding federal politics is not an easy task. The ACL (Australian Christian Lobby) recently set out to help the church understand the issues by giving the two major parties an opportunity to address the churches via the webcast ‘Make it Count 2010′. Our church participated and those who attended found it helpful to hear the two leaders (and the then Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, only days before his leadership was challenged!) speak to the church constituency and answer questions from a diverse group of the nation’s church leaders. An obvious question now remains. Whilst we’ve heard Labor address christians through Kevin Rudd, what difference will Julia Gillard bring. The media has been quick to point out she is an atheist, and yet she is not opposed to christian ethics and discussion with the churches.
